A Humanist Wedding Ceremony at Chapel House Estate:

Megan & Chris

Tucked away in 35 acres of Kent countryside near Ramsgate, Chapel House Estate is one of those rare venues that feels like a private world of its own; wild orchards, open paddocks and dreamy gardens, with a restored barn and glass-walled courtyard at its heart. It was the setting for Megan and Chris's wedding, a day built entirely around who they are as a couple, and I'm so glad I get to share a little of it here.

Getting to know Megan & Chris

From our very first conversation, I knew this was going to be a special one. We met in person over lunch in central London before I began writing a single word, which is exactly how I like to work wherever possible. My job as a humanist celebrant isn't just to learn the timeline of how a couple met or got engaged, it's to properly understand them: what matters to them, what makes them laugh, what's shaped who they are, and what they've found in each other. Sitting across the table from Megan and Chris, that all came through in the first ten minutes. That's what makes a ceremony feel truly theirs, rather than something that could belong to anyone.

With Megan and Chris, that process uncovered so much warmth and humour that it made writing their ceremony an absolute joy.

The ceremony

Every ceremony I write is entirely bespoke, and Megan and Chris's was no exception. Looking around at their family and friends during the ceremony, laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next, is exactly the reaction I hope for: a ceremony that feels so authentic, so full of love, and so unmistakably them, that everyone in the room feels it too.

What Megan & Chris said

"It never once felt like Kathryn was just doing a job. It felt like someone who genuinely cared whilst standing beside us, telling our story. Kathryn didn't just learn about how we met or when we got engaged, she took the time to really get to know us, understanding what mattered to us, what made us laugh, what had shaped us, what we found in one another, and turned all of that into the most beautiful ceremony. Everyone commented on how it was the best wedding ceremony they've ever been to.

Thank you for giving us more than a ceremony. You gave us moments we'll carry with us forever. If you're reading this and wondering whether to book Kathryn, please do. You'll get so much more than a celebrant. You'll get someone who genuinely loves people, loves love, and pours every bit of herself into making your day feel unforgettable."
