Wedding Celebrant at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London: Joanna and Ben's Colourful December Wedding
Trinity Buoy Wharf is one of my genuine favourite venues in London, and I don't say that about many places. Tucked along the Thames in East London, it's home to the city's only lighthouse, the Grade II listed Chain and Buoy Store with its huge sliding doors and exposed brick, and a riverside terrace that looks directly across the water to the O2, one of the most iconic views the city has to offer. It's industrial, atmospheric, unlike almost anywhere else couples get married in London, and it was the perfect backdrop for Joanna and Ben's wedding in late, cold December 2021.

Joanna was, without question, the most stylish bride I've had the pleasure of working with, and the whole day matched her: colourful, funky, luxurious, and full of genuine meaning rather than style for its own sake. A December wedding at a riverside warehouse venue takes a certain kind of confidence, and Joanna and Ben had it in spades, turning what could have been a cold, dark time of year into something warm and vivid instead, with that unmistakable Trinity Buoy Wharf skyline as the backdrop throughout.
From our very first conversation, Joanna and I simply clicked. We met in person once and spoke several times in the lead up to the day, and I made sure to check in regularly, not just on the practical planning but on how they were both feeling and whether the ceremony was shaping up to be exactly what they wanted. Getting a couple's actual story onto the page, in a way that sounds like them rather than like a template, takes real time and attention, and that's exactly what this one had.
On the day itself, against that industrial brick backdrop with the O2 glittering across the river, the ceremony brought warmth, humour and joy in equal measure, the kind of contrast that a venue like Trinity Buoy Wharf practically invites.
Joanna said afterwards: "What can I say about Kathryn?! She is a ray of sunshine!" She described the whole process as special from the very first conversation, and said I'd worked hard to make sure their ceremony was personalised and tailored exactly to them, sharing their story beautifully. She also mentioned the smiles, the charisma, and the fact that as a professional broadcaster I brought something extra to the day itself, and said, quite simply, that they couldn't have asked for anyone better.
