Wedding Celebrant at Hedsor House:

Luxury wedding celebrant at hedsor house

Victoria & Declan's Story

Some love stories take an unexpected turn along the way, and Victoria and Declan's is one of the most moving I have had the privilege of being part of. Their journey to their wedding celebration at the stunning Hedsor House is a testament to patience, resilience and the enduring strength of their commitment to each other.

A Wedding Postponed

In 2020, just days before their wedding at Hedsor House, the couple found themselves facing something no one could have planned for. COVID hit, and with it came the sudden need to rethink everything. Rather than lose the day altogether, Victoria and Declan made the decision to marry quietly and intimately, choosing to save their grand celebration for when it could truly be shared with the people they love.

The Celebration, Finally

By March 2022, that moment arrived. Since Victoria and Declan were already legally married, what they wanted was something different from a traditional wedding ceremony: an opportunity to revisit their vows in front of family and friends, and to properly celebrate the milestone that COVID had once threatened to take from them.

Finding the right celebrant for such a personal and unusual brief took time, but once we met, it was clear we were the right fit for each other. Together we crafted a ceremony that honoured everything Victoria and Declan had been through since 2020: the setback, the patience, and the love that carried them to this point.

Hedsor House

Hedsor House is one of Buckinghamshire's most beautiful wedding venues, set within acres of parkland with sweeping views across the Thames Valley. As a celebrant based locally in Buckinghamshire, I have a real fondness for this venue and the way its history and grandeur provide such a fitting setting for a celebration of enduring love.

What Victoria & Declan Said

"When COVID hit in 2020, just days before our wedding at Hedsor, everything we had planned was suddenly up in the air. We had to rethink our approach and ultimately chose a more intimate ceremony, saving our grand celebration for a later date. By March 2022, it was finally time for our long awaited celebration. Since we were already married, we wanted a celebrant who could help us revisit our vows in front of family and friends. The search took time, but when we found Kathryn, we knew she was the perfect fit. She brought warmth, energy, and a unique perspective that made our ceremony truly special. Kathryn took the time to understand our journey and made sure every moment felt meaningful. If you're looking for a celebrant who brings passion, authenticity, and a personal touch, we wholeheartedly recommend Kathryn."

Wedding Celebrant at Old Luxters Barn:

Mark & Megan's Story

Set within the Hambleden Valley's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Old Luxters Barn is one of my favourite local venues to work at, an 18th century converted barn on the grounds of Chiltern Valley Winery, surrounded by vineyards and orchards near Henley-on-Thames. Being wedding celebrant for Mark and Megan's celebration here was a genuine joy from our very first conversation to the final moment of their ceremony.

Getting to Know Mark & Megan

From that first call, it was clear Mark and Megan and I were the right fit for each other. My approach has always been to ask the right questions and really listen, so that a ceremony ends up sounding entirely like the couple standing in front of me rather than a generic script. With Mark and Megan, that meant drawing out their stories, their feelings, and the small details that mattered most to them, then shaping all of it into something that felt authentically theirs.

Luxury Wedding Celebrant Kathryn B Wilson with Megan & Mark

A Ceremony Built Together

What made this wedding special was how collaborative the process was. Mark and Megan were never afraid to ask for changes along the way, and I loved being able to refine and adjust their ceremony until it felt completely right, right up until it truly reflected who they are as a couple. That care paid off on the day itself, with a ceremony that struck the perfect balance between heartfelt and genuinely funny.

The Reaction Said It All

Since their wedding, Mark and Megan have told me about the sheer number of guests who came up to them afterwards with comments like "that was so you, it was perfect" and "that was the best ceremony I've ever been to." One guest even called it one of the most spectacular weddings they had ever attended. Hearing that kind of reaction from a couple's own family and friends is exactly why I love this work.

What Mark & Megan Said

"From start to finish Kathryn was amazing. As soon as we had our first call we knew she was the perfect fit for us, our ceremony and our vision of the day! She was always there to support and answer questions and was so enthusiastic, warm and friendly. She knew just what to say and ask to get the best out of us. We loved the final result, the ceremony was so true to us, who we are, and so special. Kathryn was so helpful with pulling out our ideas, feelings and stories and bringing them to life through a beautiful story. She was willing, enthusiastic and happy to get feedback and make edits as needed to make it 'more us', you can tell making it feel genuine and special is what truly matters to her. She was also a star on the day! Her presentation was heartfelt and moving, with the perfect touches of humour. Since the wedding, we've had numerous people comment on the ceremony, saying things like 'that was so you, it was perfect', 'that was the best ceremony I've ever been to', 'it was so genuine and full of love, so personal', and 'one of the most spectacular weddings we had ever attended, the ceremony, simply outstanding'. We cannot thank or recommend Kathryn enough! You made our day truly unique and special and you were absolutely amazing to work with. Thank you!"

"Kathryn was great right from the start! We knew right away she was the perfect fit for us and our day. She was kind, creative and knew how to get us to open up and share our stories. From there she was able to take our words and create something truly unique. From our first meeting to all the calls and support along the way to the final day, even making sure I had eaten beforehand, Kathryn was great. Thank you so much for everything, you really helped make our day something special."

A Humanist Wedding Ceremony at Hatfield House: Laura & Daved

Some relationships are shaped by distance before they're shaped by anything else. Laura and Daved met on 14th July, and theirs has been a love story carried across three countries ever since, a real, recurring theme of who they are as a couple.

It made their wedding day at Hatfield House, the Tudor Old Palace once home to a young Elizabeth I, feel less like the end of a journey and more like a proper homecoming.

Humanist Wedding Ceremony at Hatfield House, London

Laura & Daved

Laura describes Daved as an extension of herself, and that closeness was tested in the strangest possible way in 2020, a year when the world was actively working against couples being near each other at all. Through it, she found her sense of comfort simply in being near him. Daved, for his part, has a habit of telling her to "just enjoy your life," a small phrase that helps Laura stay grounded and hold onto a sense of lightness, even childlike wonder, without the weight of worry. It's the kind of quiet, steadying dynamic that doesn't always make it into a wedding speech, but absolutely belongs in a ceremony.

Wedding ceremony at Hatfield House - Wedding Celebrant Love Celebrants

The ceremony

Laura and Daved's humanist wedding ceremony included:

  • A ring warming, passing their rings among their loved ones to hold and bless before the exchange

  • Walking together, a symbolic moment representing the life they're choosing to walk through side by side

  • The exchanging of rings

  • Exchanging vows, written entirely in their own words

Set against the Old Palace's medieval brickwork and centuries of history, it was a ceremony that felt both timeless and entirely, unmistakably theirs.

A love story worth writing properly

Every couple I work with has a story that deserves more than a fixed script, but Laura and Daved's stood out even by that standard: three countries, a global pandemic, and a partnership that only grew steadier under pressure. That's exactly the kind of material a humanist ceremony is built for.

Laura and Daved - Hatfield House Wedding

Got a similarly unconventional story of your own, distance, timing, the odd global pandemic thrown in? I'd love to hear it. Drop me a line and let's talk about how it could become your ceremony.

Halloween Wedding Celebrant at Asylum Chapel, Peckham: Rachael and Chris

Luxury can have its quirks, and Rachael and Chris proved it beautifully with an October wedding at Asylum Chapel in Peckham, a Grade II listed Gothic Revival chapel with crumbling plaster, soaring stained glass windows and a sense of drama no purpose built venue could ever manufacture. Built in the 1820s and consecrated in 1838, it's become one of London's most sought after venues for exactly the kind of couple who want something with real atmosphere rather than a blank, safe backdrop, and it's easy to see why once you read what other couples say about getting married there. For a Halloween-timed, thoroughly goth wedding, it was pretty much perfect.

Humanist Wedding Celebrant at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham

Rachael and Chris wanted a ceremony that matched them, personal, a little dark around the edges, and genuinely fun, rather than following any kind of traditional script. Getting there meant starting from the very beginning, walking properly through what a celebrant led wedding actually means and how different it is from a registrar ceremony, since for a lot of couples that's an overwhelming amount of new information to take in at exactly the moment everything else feels overwhelming too. Taking the time to slow that down and make it feel personal rather than procedural is exactly the part of the job I love most.

On the day itself, inside that extraordinary, atmospheric chapel, the ceremony brought together everything Rachael and Chris wanted, properly personal, genuinely fun, and entirely their own. Afterwards I made a point of coming to find them for a quiet moment together once the ceremony had ended, just the two of them, before the rest of the day swept them up.

Love celebrants at a luxury halloween wedding London

Here's what they said afterwards: Kathryn was incredibly patient and helped guide them through what was an overwhelming time, making the process feel personal and special throughout. They said she was an absolute star from start to finish, from the very first conversation about what a celebrant wedding meant, right through to that moment together after the ceremony. They received so many compliments on the ceremony itself, and said they were thrilled they'd chosen the celebrant path, ending up with exactly the personal, fun ceremony they'd always wanted. A 110% recommendation, in their own words.

LGBTQ+ Wedding Celebrant at The Heritage & Arts Centre, Bow: Alex and Darrin's Scottish Celebration

The Heritage & Arts Centre, known locally as theHAC, is housed inside Holy Trinity Church in Bow, East London, a beautiful, characterful main hall with the kind of history and warmth you simply can't manufacture in a purpose built venue. It's exactly the sort of unexpected, full-of-character space that suited Alex and Darrin's wedding on 1st July 2023, planned beautifully by Cherelle at Perfectly Planned 4 You, with every moment captured by Sidey Clark Photography.

Luxury Wedding Celebrant East London - at the HAC, Bow

Alex and Darrin had been together a long time before their wedding day, long enough that, as they told me with a fair amount of honesty and laughter, part of the motivation for finally making it legal was genuinely tax reasons. I loved that. It didn't make the day any less meaningful, if anything it made it more so, this wasn't a couple rushing into something new, it was two people who already knew exactly who they were to each other, choosing to celebrate that properly, surrounded by everyone they loved.

The ceremony leaned into Alex's Scottish heritage with a quaich ritual, the traditional shared cup passed between a couple as a symbol of trust, alongside two readings from family members. It was a real LGBTQ+ celebration in every sense, joyful, unfiltered, and entirely itself, with a room full of people in their absolute best form to celebrate a couple who'd earned every bit of the party.

Groom Alex mum did a reading in her traditional scottish attire

That's really what Alex and Darrin wanted from the day: a proper party for the people they loved, with genuine meaning running underneath it. Not one at the expense of the other.

Here's what they said afterwards: Kathryn was amazing from start to finish, they said, and she took real time getting to know them, both as individuals and as a couple, and how they wanted the day to unfold. On the day itself, she was brilliant, engaging, energetic, inclusive, kind, caring and a bundle of joy, they said, full of love, warmth and laughter throughout. So many of their guests came up afterwards asking how long we'd known each other, assuming we were old friends rather than a couple who'd met for the ceremony itself. That's about the best compliment a celebrant can be paid.

Grooms Alex and Darrin with their Wedding Celebrant Kathryn (Love Celebrants)

Cherelle, who planned the day, has since worked with me on a second wedding too, and left her own words on it afterwards in a Google review: she said my ability to connect with couples and tailor ceremonies to their unique personalities and desires was nothing short of exceptional, and that the heartfelt words I delivered resonated deeply with everyone present, leaving a lasting impression on both the couple and their guests. Coming from a planner who's seen the process from the other side, across two very different weddings now, that means a great deal.

If you're planning an LGBTQ+ wedding with real heritage, real history, and a proper party at the centre of it, wherever that takes place, I'd love to help you build it.

A Nigerian & Scottish Vow Renewal at That Amazing Place: Felix & Claire

A Nigerian & Scottish Vow Renewal at That Amazing Place: Felix & Claire

Ten years after they first said "I do," Felix and Claire renewed their vows surrounded by those they love most, at That Amazing Place in Old Harlow, Essex. A Grade II listed, exclusive-use manor house, it's one of only a handful of country houses in England offering couples full run of the house and grounds for their celebration, no other wedding happening alongside yours, just your own people, for the whole day and night.

The venue's setting is exactly the kind of backdrop a milestone celebration like this deserves: landscaped gardens, a private lake, and a gated secret garden and orchard that couples regularly use for their photographs. Ceremonies can take place indoors in the elegant Lakeview Lounge, outdoors beneath the lakeside gazebo, or in the venue's light-filled marquee for larger celebrations, and with fifteen individually styled bedrooms on site, many couples (Felix and Claire included, given the scale of the celebration) make a full weekend of it with family staying over. It's a venue that manages to feel both grand and genuinely intimate at once, which suited the warmth of this particular day perfectly.

Love Celebrants prefroms Nigerian & Scottish Vow Renewal

Two heritages, one ceremony

Felix is of Nigerian heritage, and Claire is Scottish, and their vow renewal beautifully wove both traditions together. As part of the ceremony, they included a Quaich ritual, the traditional Scottish two-handled "cup of welcome," historically used at Highland gatherings to offer a welcoming drink and symbolise trust and friendship between two families coming together.

Felix and Claire made the tradition entirely their own. Their Quaich was engraved with the Costus spectabilis, Nigeria's national flower, and rather than the whisky traditionally sipped from a Quaich, they drank fresh Nigerian lemon juice, squeezed by Felix's mother especially for the occasion. It's one of the loveliest examples I've had the privilege of including in a ceremony: an old Scottish symbol of welcome, made new, and made theirs.

A Nigerian & Scottish Vow Renewal - Couple walk hand in hand

What Claire said

"Such a wonderful personalised experience. Kathryn really took time to get to know us to help us write our marriage vows, which was central to the whole occasion."

— Claire

I loved replying to this one so much I'll share it here too:

"Thank you so much for this and for posting the gorgeous photos from your Vow Renewal Ceremony. Your friends and family know how to party, and they must have learned it from you and Felix, haha! Thank you for choosing me as your Humanist Celebrant, allowing me to write your ceremony about your love story and marriage. I'd also like to mention how grateful I am to you for making me feel so welcomed on the day at That Amazing Place.

A Family Affair at High Billinghurst Farm:

Rose and Tom with their Celebrant in image of ceremony led by Love Celebrants Kathryn B Wilson

Rose & Tom's Story

Some weddings are about two people. Others, like Rose and Tom's celebration at High Billinghurst Farm, are unmistakably about a whole family. With their two children walking Rose down the aisle and a carousel turning away in the background, theirs was one of the most joy filled days I've had the honour of leading as celebrant.

Rose & Tom on their wedding day at High Billinghurst Farm

A Setting for Something Different

High Billinghurst Farm, hidden away at the end of its own private lane in the Surrey countryside, has a way of encouraging couples to think beyond the traditional. Its barns, fireplaces and open countryside give a day room to breathe, and Rose and Tom used that space to bring in something few ceremonies include: a full size carousel, turning quietly nearby as guests arrived and celebrated.

Walked Down the Aisle by Her Children

For Rose, having her two children walk her down the aisle was never going to be a small detail tucked into the day, it was the heart of it. Building a ceremony around that moment meant thinking carefully about pacing, words and tone, so the significance of that walk landed exactly as it should. It's the kind of request that reminds me why no two ceremonies I write are ever the same.

Black & White image of ceremony led by Love Celebrants Kathryn B Wilson

Finding the Confidence to Speak From the Heart

One of the parts of this work I care about most is helping a nervous bride or groom find their own voice. Rose has spoken since about how much it meant to be encouraged to say exactly what she wanted to say on the day, in her own words, rather than following anyone else's script. That confidence, paired with plenty of warmth and fun throughout the planning process, shaped a ceremony guests are still talking about.

What Rose & Tom Said

"I cannot thank Kathryn enough for giving us a wedding ceremony that was so true to us. We have had so many comments on what a beautiful and different ceremony it was. Kathryn encouraged me to have the confidence to say what I wanted to say and she were kind and fun throughout. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone xxx"

Wedding Celebrant at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London: Joanna and Ben's Colourful December Wedding

A colourful, luxury wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, with views of the O2, led by celebrant Kathryn B Wilson. Read Joanna and Ben's story.

Trinity Buoy Wharf is one of my genuine favourite venues in London, and I don't say that about many places. Tucked along the Thames in East London, it's home to the city's only lighthouse, the Grade II listed Chain and Buoy Store with its huge sliding doors and exposed brick, and a riverside terrace that looks directly across the water to the O2, one of the most iconic views the city has to offer. It's industrial, atmospheric, unlike almost anywhere else couples get married in London, and it was the perfect backdrop for Joanna and Ben's wedding in late, cold December 2021.

Wedding at the trinity buoy wharf

Joanna was, without question, the most stylish bride I've had the pleasure of working with, and the whole day matched her: colourful, funky, luxurious, and full of genuine meaning rather than style for its own sake. A December wedding at a riverside warehouse venue takes a certain kind of confidence, and Joanna and Ben had it in spades, turning what could have been a cold, dark time of year into something warm and vivid instead, with that unmistakable Trinity Buoy Wharf skyline as the backdrop throughout.

From our very first conversation, Joanna and I simply clicked. We met in person once and spoke several times in the lead up to the day, and I made sure to check in regularly, not just on the practical planning but on how they were both feeling and whether the ceremony was shaping up to be exactly what they wanted. Getting a couple's actual story onto the page, in a way that sounds like them rather than like a template, takes real time and attention, and that's exactly what this one had.

On the day itself, against that industrial brick backdrop with the O2 glittering across the river, the ceremony brought warmth, humour and joy in equal measure, the kind of contrast that a venue like Trinity Buoy Wharf practically invites.

Joanna said afterwards: "What can I say about Kathryn?! She is a ray of sunshine!" She described the whole process as special from the very first conversation, and said I'd worked hard to make sure their ceremony was personalised and tailored exactly to them, sharing their story beautifully. She also mentioned the smiles, the charisma, and the fact that as a professional broadcaster I brought something extra to the day itself, and said, quite simply, that they couldn't have asked for anyone better.

If you're planning a wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf, or anywhere else in London with a view worth building a ceremony around, get in touch and let's talk about your day.

Luxury Wedding Celebrant at High Billinghurst Farm:

Beautiful High Billinghurst the perfect spot to hold your luxury wedding ceremony.

Charlotte & Rene's Story

Tucked away at the end of a long, meandering private lane in the Surrey countryside, High Billinghurst Farm is one of those rare venues that feels like an exclusive secret the moment you arrive. On 30th June 2022, I had the pleasure of being luxury wedding celebrant for Charlotte and Rene's celebration there, and it remains one of the most elegant, vibrant ceremonies I've had the privilege to be part of.

A Venue Full of Character

Set within 65 acres of rolling countryside and wildflower meadows, High Billinghurst Farm blends rustic charm with genuine glamour. The main barn, with its huge inglenook fireplace, sparkling chandeliers and warm timber interior, sits alongside the adjoining Elizabethan barn, giving couples a natural flow between ceremony and celebration. It's exactly the kind of setting that invites a couple to bring real personality and style to their day rather than follow a template, which suited Charlotte and Rene perfectly.

A Ceremony Full of Colour

Luxury Wedding Celebrant Love Celebrants at High Billinghurst Farm

Charlotte and Rene's ceremony was a masterclass in styling. Charlotte's bridesmaids wore striking orange and hot pink, chosen to match the couple's vivid floral designs, and the effect against the timber beams and soft countryside light of the Elizabethan barn was simply gorgeous. It's a detail I still think about, proof that a beautifully considered colour palette can transform a ceremony space into something truly memorable.

Creating Something Unique

From our very first conversation, it was clear Charlotte and Rene wanted a ceremony that felt entirely their own rather than a conventional one. Together we worked through ideas until we landed on something that reflected their personalities, their story as a couple, and the elegant, colourful vision they had for their day. Bringing the right energy to match a couple's own is one of my favourite parts of this work, and Charlotte and Rene's celebration had that in abundance.

What Charlotte & Rene Said

"Kathryn was amazing from start to finish, she came up with the best, most unique ideas for our day. It wouldn't have been the same without her! She had the perfect energy for our special day. I can't recommend her enough!"

— Charlotte and Rene Naya

LGBTQ+ Wedding Celebrant at the Mildmay Club, Stoke Newington: Gemma and Carla's Disco Wedding

An LGBTQ+ disco themed wedding at the Mildmay Club, Stoke Newington, led by celebrant Kathryn B Wilson. Read Gemma and Carla's story and their review.

The Mildmay Club in Stoke Newington is one of those places that looks fairly unassuming from the street and then opens up into stained glass, wood panelling, patterned carpets and a stage built for exactly the kind of night Gemma and Carla had in mind. It's a proper working men's club with history, and more recently it's become a bit of a scene stealer, it's where Taylor Swift filmed the dance off scene for her Opalite video, and where Lily Allen and Netflix's Baby Reindeer have shot before too.

Retro, a little glamorous, completely unpretentious. For a queer, disco themed wedding, it was pretty much perfect.

luxury wedding London - Gemma and Carla

Gemma and Carla wanted a ceremony that actually sounded like them, as an LGBTQ+ couple building a day around who they genuinely are rather than any traditional template, and what was meant to be a quick thirty minute meet and greet turned into over an hour of banter and daydreaming about what their day could look like. That's usually a good sign. The two of them love nothing more than roasting each other, but they also wanted proper space in the ceremony for saying, plainly and sincerely, how they actually feel about one another. Those two things don't always sit easily side by side, but that tension is exactly what makes a ceremony feel real rather than generic, and getting both into the same room without one undercutting the other was the actual job.

We spent our first proper session together on Zoom, followed by meeting in person to get the full story of the two of them, and by the time I sent over the first draft of the script, every detail they'd shared had made it in. Wedding planning has a habit of being stressful in every other direction, and the ceremony being one thing neither of them had to worry about was very much the point.

On the day, the room did exactly what a good ceremony room should do, people laughed, a fair few of them cried, and by all accounts everyone was still talking about it long after the last song played.

Brides in London

Here's some of what Gemma and Carla said afterwards. Gemma: "Kathryn is, as the Irish say, some woman for one woman!" She described the whole process as full of humour, empathy and what she called proper Irish charm, and said it became the most memorable ceremony she's ever seen, made all the sweeter for being her own. Carla put it simply: every single person she's spoken to since has commented on how amazing and memorable the ceremony was, and that having Kathryn in charge of it meant it was the one part of the day she genuinely never had to worry about.

Five tips for planning the PERFECT Spring wedding!

Spring has sprung! The dark nights are in the rear-view mirror and wedding season is almost in full session… I am so excited!

Planning the perfect Spring wedding involves careful consideration of various elements to create a memorable and beautiful celebration for your special day. I’ve done a LOT of Spring weddings in my time as a humanist wedding celebrant, so here are five essential tips for you to consider!

Find a flexible venue

Seems obvious, doesn’t it? Choosing a location that showcases the natural beauty of Spring, such as a space with a garden, outdoor park, or vineyard can encapsulate the season perfectly.

Ensure that the venue can accommodate both indoor and outdoor spaces, as the weather can be unpredictable during this season. It's important to have a backup plan in case of inclement weather! I have a couple of blogs from recent weddings on this site you can check out that perfectly cater for indoor and outdoor weddings – check them out for inspiration!

Capturing Colours

Select a colour palette that reflects the fresh and vibrant hues of Spring! Pastels like blush, mint, lavender, and soft blue are very popular choices for this season. Incorporating these colours into your bridesmaid dresses, table settings, and floral arrangements can create the perfect cohesive setup – with just enough diversity to celebrate the full wonder of Spring bloom!

Flowers, flowers and more flowers!

You can’t think of Spring without flowers, right? Embrace the season by using an abundance of Spring flowers in your bouquets, centrepieces, and decorations!

Popular Spring flowers include tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, peonies, and cherry blossoms. Consider working with a local florist to source seasonal blooms and create stunning arrangements that reflect the beauty of the season.

Mastering your menu

It can be wise (and fun!) to create a menu that highlights fresh, seasonal ingredients to delight your guests. Spring is the perfect time for lighter dishes, such as salads with seasonal vegetables, seafood, and (arguably most importantly) fruit-infused cocktails!

You could also include a delicious Spring-inspired dessert, like a lemon or berry-flavoured cake.

Dress to impress on your special day

This is one that a LOT of people forget about! Yes, Choose wedding attire that is comfortable and appropriate for the season. Lightweight fabrics are ideal for Spring weddings. Brides may want to consider a tea-length dress or one with lace details, while grooms can opt for lighter-coloured suits or even linen for a more casual feel. We want your special day to be MAGICAL, not worrying about being too hot or too cold!

So there you have it! Spring is such a beautiful time of year and the perfect time to get married. If you are planning a wedding in 2024 or beyond and are interested in booking a humanist wedding celebrant, get in touch! I would love to help you capture your special day.

Love,

City Wedding London

Shauna & Thomas got married in the heart of Shoreditch, London in 2025

Photos from Joanna Bongard

A Spring Wedding at Shoreditch Studios | Shauna & Thomas

There’s something about April weddings in London that just feels right. The city starts to wake up, the light softens, and you get those first glimpses of sunshine that make everything feel full of possibility. Shauna and Thomas chose this exact moment to celebrate their wedding at Shoreditch Studios, and it couldn’t have suited them more.

Shauna is originally from London, while Thomas is from Singapore, where they now live together. Bringing everyone back to London for their wedding felt really intentional. It gave them the chance to celebrate with family and friends in a place that means so much to Shauna, while also giving their Singapore-based loved ones a proper London experience.

A Shoreditch Studios Wedding in the Spring Light

Shoreditch Studios is one of those venues I always love working in as a wedding celebrant London couples come to for something a bit more relaxed and modern. It has that perfect mix of industrial character and soft, natural light, especially in spring.

The space looked incredible without needing to be overdone. Shauna and Thomas kept everything elegant and understated, letting the venue speak for itself. With the sunlight pouring in and a room full of people who genuinely cared about them, it created such an easy, joyful atmosphere.

Their Ceremony

I had the absolute pleasure of leading their ceremony, and it was one of those moments that just felt completely them. As a wedding celebrant London based, those are always the ceremonies I love most. Personal, relaxed, and full of meaning without feeling over-scripted.

They mentioned that the fact I was a humanist wedding celebrant was the real reason why they choose me.

We told their story in a way that reflected both where they have come from and the life they have built together in Singapore. There was laughter, a few tears, and that real sense of connection that you only get when a ceremony truly reflects the couple.

Celebrant-led weddings give you that freedom. You can shape the ceremony around who you are, include what matters, and leave out anything that does not. Shauna and Thomas really embraced that, and it made all the difference.

April Sunshine and That London Energy

And then there was the sunshine, which is never guaranteed in April. When it does show up, it completely transforms the day.

Guests were able to spill outside with drinks in hand, soaking up the warmth and catching up properly. It added a relaxed, almost destination wedding feel right in the middle of London.

For couples planning a spring wedding at Shoreditch Studios, this is exactly why April can be such a great choice. You get that softer light, a bit more energy in the air, and sometimes beautiful sunshine to tie it all together.

A London Wedding Worth Coming Home For

For Shauna and Thomas, this was about more than just choosing a venue. It was about bringing their worlds together, celebrating with the people they love, and marking the start of their marriage in a way that felt completely authentic.

That is always the goal.

Planning Your Shoreditch Studios Wedding | Tips from a Wedding Celebrant London

If you are thinking about getting married at Shoreditch Studios, or planning a London wedding from abroad, here are a few things I always share as a wedding celebrant London based.

Make the most of the light. Shoreditch Studios is all about natural light, so think about your ceremony timing, especially in spring.

Keep styling simple. You really do not need to over-style this space. Let the textures and architecture do the work.

Choose a celebrant for flexibility. If you want a ceremony that actually feels like you, working with a wedding celebrant London gives you complete freedom over how it looks and feels.

Think about your guests’ experience. If people are travelling, especially internationally, build in time to connect. Welcome drinks and relaxed moments go a long way.

Have a plan for the weather. April can surprise you, so make sure your plans work either way so you can stay relaxed.

Shauna and Thomas’ wedding was such a perfect reminder that when you focus on what really matters, the people, the story, and the atmosphere, everything else falls into place.

And as a wedding celebrant London, those are always the weddings that stay with you.

“What Does a Wedding Celebrant in London Actually Do? (And Is It Right for You?)”

London Celebrant

If you’ve found yourself Googling wedding celebrant London and wondering what that actually means, you’re definitely not alone. It’s one of the most common conversations I have with couples at the very start of their planning.

Because here’s the thing… most people don’t realise there’s an alternative to a registrar ceremony until they start looking properly. And once they do, everything shifts.

As a wedding celebrant in London, my role is to create and deliver a ceremony that feels completely personal to you. Not templated, not rushed, and not something you’ve heard ten times before. Something that actually reflects your story, your relationship, and the way you want your wedding to feel.

What is a Wedding Celebrant?

A wedding celebrant in London designs and leads bespoke, completely personalised wedding ceremonies.

That means:

  • Your ceremony is written from scratch

  • Your story is at the centre of it

  • You can include personal vows, readings, rituals, or cultural elements

  • You can get married anywhere

Unlike a registrar, there are no restrictions on structure, wording, or location. Whether you’re planning a luxury London wedding, a Shoreditch studio celebration, or something more intimate, a celebrant-led wedding gives you complete creative freedom.

Wedding Celebrant vs Registrar in London: What’s the Difference?

This is usually the moment everything clicks for couples.

A registrar in London provides the legal part of your marriage. It’s structured, time-limited, and often takes place in a licensed venue with set wording.

A wedding celebrant in London, on the other hand, focuses entirely on the experience.

With a celebrant-led wedding in London:

  • There are no scripts or standard wording

  • You’re not restricted on time

  • Your ceremony can be emotional, relaxed, and genuinely engaging

  • You can choose any venue, not just licensed spaces

Most couples choose to do the legal paperwork separately (often quietly at a registry office), and then have their ‘real wedding’ ceremony led by a London wedding celebrant.

It means your wedding day isn’t dictated by legal constraints.

It’s designed around you. Your love story. Your life!

Why More Couples Are Choosing a Wedding Celebrant in London

There’s been a real shift towards celebrant-led weddings in London, especially for couples planning modern, luxury, or design-led celebrations.

London weddings aren’t one-size-fits-all anymore. Couples are choosing:

  • Creative venues like studios and warehouses

  • Multi-cultural ceremonies that reflect both families

  • Personal storytelling instead of formal scripts

  • A more relaxed, editorial feel to the day

Working with a wedding celebrant London based allows you to create something that feels effortless, but deeply considered.

What a Celebrant-Led Ceremony Actually Feels Like

This is the part that’s hard to explain until you experience it.

A celebrant-led wedding ceremony doesn’t feel stiff or overly formal. It feels natural. Guests are listening, laughing, sometimes crying, and actually present in the moment.

It feels like you.

As a wedding celebrant in London, I spend time getting to know my couples properly. The result is a ceremony that flows, that feels elevated but never forced, and that sets the tone for the entire day.

Love Celebrants Wedding Celebrant London

Can You Legally Get Married with a Wedding Celebrant in London?

This is one of the most searched questions around wedding celebrant London, and it’s important to be clear.

In England, celebrant-led weddings are not yet legally binding on their own.

What most couples do is:

  • Complete the legal paperwork at a registry office (often on a separate day)

  • Have their full wedding ceremony led by a wedding celebrant in London

And honestly, this is where the magic is. Because your actual wedding ceremony is no longer restricted. It becomes the experience you and your guests remember.

Why I’m So Passionate About Celebrant-Led Weddings

I recently had the chance to talk about this in more depth, including the difference between a registrar and a celebrant, and why so many couples are making the switch.

In it, I share exactly what goes on behind the scenes, what couples are really looking for now, and why a wedding celebrant in London offers something completely different.

Because at the heart of it, this isn’t just about having a ceremony. It’s about creating a moment that actually means something.

How to Choose the Right Wedding Celebrant in London

If you’re searching for a London wedding celebrant, this part matters.

You’re not just booking a supplier. You’re choosing the person who will tell your story in front of everyone you love.

Look for:

  • Someone whose tone and style feels like you

  • A writing style that resonates

  • Experience with luxury or design-led weddings (if that’s your aesthetic)

  • Someone you genuinely feel comfortable with

The right wedding celebrant in London will make the entire process feel easy, collaborative, and genuinely exciting.

Final Thoughts

If you’re planning a wedding and want something that feels considered, personal, and beautifully put together, working with a wedding celebrant in London gives you that freedom.

It allows you to create a ceremony that isn’t just part of the day, but the part everyone remembers.

If that’s what you’re looking for, that’s exactly what I do at Love Celebrants.

“How to Plan a Luxury Wedding Ceremony in London (That Actually Feels Personal)”

Kathryn Wilson Love Celebrants - Luxury wedding London

When you start planning a luxury wedding in London, it’s very easy to focus on the big visual elements first. The venue, the flowers, the styling, the guest list. But the part that quietly shapes the entire day, and often gets left until later, is the ceremony.

And in reality, it’s the ceremony that sets everything in motion.

As a wedding celebrant in London, I see this shift happen all the time. Couples begin with aesthetics, but what they really want is something that feels considered, personal, and completely their own. The ceremony is where that happens.

Start with the Ceremony, Not the Timeline

If you are planning a luxury wedding in London, one of the best things you can do is start with how you want your ceremony to feel.

Not the schedule. Not the logistics. The feeling.

Do you want it to feel intimate, even in a large space? Relaxed but still refined? Emotional without being overwhelming?

When you work with a wedding celebrant London based, the ceremony becomes something that is designed around you from the very beginning, rather than something that has to fit into a pre-set structure.

Choose the Right Setting in London

London offers some of the most incredible backdrops for a luxury wedding ceremony, and I’ve been lucky enough to work in some truly iconic spaces.

From ceremonies at the Natural History Museum to weddings at Cliveden House, Blenheim Palace, and the Bodleian Library, each venue brings its own atmosphere and sense of occasion.

I’ve also led ceremonies at some of London’s most refined hotels, including The Connaught and Claridge's, often for high-profile and celebrity clients who want something discreet, elevated, and entirely personal.

The key is choosing a space that aligns with your energy as a couple, not just how it looks.

Make It Personal (Without It Feeling Overdone)

Personalisation is often misunderstood. It doesn’t mean including everything, or making the ceremony overly long or complicated.

For a luxury wedding ceremony in London, it’s about refinement.

It’s knowing what to include, what to leave out, and how to tell your story in a way that feels effortless. That balance is where a celebrant-led wedding in London really stands apart.

As a wedding celebrant London couples trust for high-end weddings, my role is to create something that feels elevated but natural. Thoughtful, but never forced.

Work with a Wedding Celebrant in London

This is where everything comes together.

A wedding celebrant in London allows you to step away from limitations and create a ceremony that is entirely bespoke. No scripts, no restrictions, and no time pressure.

For many of my couples, especially those planning luxury London weddings or multi-day celebrations, the ceremony becomes a central experience rather than a formal requirement.

It also means we can work collaboratively. Every word, every moment, every transition is considered.

Create a Guest Experience, Not Just a Ceremony

For luxury weddings, the guest experience matters just as much as the visual elements.

Your ceremony sets the tone. It’s the first time everyone gathers, the first shared moment, and it shapes how the rest of the day feels.

When it’s done well, guests are completely present. They are engaged, emotionally connected, and part of something meaningful.

That’s always the intention.

Timing, Light, and Flow

London light is something people don’t always think about, but it makes a huge difference, especially for a luxury wedding ceremony.

Spring and summer weddings in London offer that softer, flattering light that works beautifully in both historic venues and modern spaces.

Planning your ceremony timing around this can completely elevate the atmosphere, particularly for photography and the overall feel of the day.

A More Considered Approach to Weddings

Alongside my work as a wedding celebrant in London, I also work as a broadcaster and regularly speak about weddings, relationships, and modern ceremonies.

Through my work at Love Celebrants, I’ve become known as the UK’s only wedding expert and commentator, offering insight into how weddings are evolving and what couples are really looking for now.

What I see, consistently, is a move towards weddings that feel more intentional. Less formulaic, more personal, and ultimately more memorable.

Final Thoughts

Planning a luxury wedding in London is about more than creating something beautiful. It’s about creating something that feels like you.

When the ceremony is given the same level of thought as the rest of the day, everything else flows more naturally.

If you’re looking for a wedding celebrant London based who can create a ceremony that feels effortless, elevated, and entirely personal, that is exactly what I do.

And it’s always where the best weddings begin.

A surprise for the special guest at Tip Top

Humanist Wedding Ceremony, Ring hiding!

This weekend in late July I was Humanist Celebrant as a gorgeous Wedding Ceremony in Milton Keynes for Chloe and Ollie Jones. With an intimate ceremony of just 67 guests, the sunshine was perfect with a slight cloud cover as the bride made her way down the aisle.

The wedding was set beside a tipi on a lake at the Beautiful Tip Top venue. This day was a celebration of true love! The relationship of C & O had been that of best friends, boyfriend and girlfriend for over 15 years.

Take a look at the reel for this wedding.

As part of the Ceremony, the couple decided we would have a ‘Ring Warning’ ritual but before that, we would create some shock, surprise and wholesomeness for one special person. This was done with the Best Man – A very nervous but excited Kempy began by approaching the front with the wedding Ring Box filled with two Haribo rings instead of the actual rings!

Stashing the rings.

This came as a shock to the guests gathered. I then suggested that this was a total “disaster”, and we simply could not continue the ceremony without an actual ring. After a few moments, I then let everyone in on the surprise by asking everyone to look under their seats. Pre-ceremony myself and the best man had planted a clear button bag underneath the seat of the groom’s sister – Kerry. This was made a little harder as we had to ensure she actually sat on that seat!

Kerry eventually found the bag with the rings then she brought them to the front and replaced the haribos! I believe she was completely surprised and I do hope it made her feel part of the ceremony as the couple intended.

Nothing like making everyone at your ceremony feel ‘Part of it’ by having to do something mid-ceremony.

Surprising a family member is highly thoughtful and includes something unexpected and fun.

I’ve found some other ideas to surprise your loved ones on the day

  • Make a surprise entrance.

  • Start a flash mob mid-ceremony.

  • Make the first dance song special and learn something to surprise guests

  • Introduce a little magic, someone unexpected or dressed up in a particular way

Humanist Wedding Celebrant Kathryn Wilson Discussion on LBC

Wedding Celebrant Love Celebrants LBC

A conversation about Humanist Wedding Ceremonies with LBC

In July I was asked to go on LBC to discuss Humanist Wedding Ceremonies, The Law Commission Report, current rules on ceremonies and the plan for legalisation in England and Wales to match the laws of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Jersey.

In a conversation with Shelagh Fogarty we discussed her views on couples potentially having a legal ceremony in their own back yard and how this may cause weddings to become less ‘special’ the less public they are considered.

I pushed my belief that all couples should have the right to choose where, when and how they are legally married.

Some people have suggested Shelagh asked me some difficult questions but I handled the challenge well. What are your thoughts?

I just got engaged, How do I start planning my wedding?

My advice is to start a ‘dreamboard’ this can be on your phone, via Pinterest or even together as a couple (Great date idea, right?)

To get some inspiration there’s some cool weddings on youtube. I also scroll for hours on Instagram searching my favourite wedding hashtags. People are proud of their wedding day and like to share it with the world. I adore watching Humanist Wedding Ceremonies online because they are truly one of a kind and all about the couple.

Once you’ve had some inspiration it’s now time to start looking into your suppliers. Wedding Dresses? Flowers? That seriously boujee cake you want to rub into each others faces? (Not for everyone this one but I personally love it!)

Most companies in the wedding industry are FIRST CLASS in what they do which often means they are fully booked YEARS in advance. This is the main reason people book their venues or wedding ceremony date quite far in advance so they can get the suppliers they want rather than settling for the mediocre.
